Resolutions, Ordinances, or Other Climate Legislation

This assessment is based on one piece of legislation. Wood County, Wisconsin adopted Resolution 21-3-7 in March 2021 to address climate change as a public safety and health concern. The resolution identifies four main areas where the county can reduce greenhouse gas emissions: land use planning, transportation, buildings, and energy management. The county recognizes that Wisconsin’s clean energy sector is a significant employer and that local industries like agriculture, forestry, and tourism are vulnerable to climate impacts. Wood County commits to pursuing energy efficiency improvements and transitioning to low-carbon energy sources, with the understanding that success requires cooperation among county government, businesses, community institutions, and utilities.
