The municipality has achieved corporate carbon neutrality for eight consecutive years through organic waste diversion and landfill gas capture, while establishing community-wide emission reduction targets of 45% by 2030 and net-zero by 2050. Key initiatives include the Urban Forest Strategy aiming for 40% tree canopy coverage by 2050 through planting 32,000 trees, expansion of cycling infrastructure with thousands of meters of new bike lanes, installation of electric vehicle charging stations, and development of flood management strategies including the Tsawwassen Integrated Stormwater Management Plan and River Road West planning.
