Reports & Planning Documents
This overview is based on five annual Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program (CARIP) reports from the Powell River/qathet Regional District covering 2015-2019. The reports document climate mitigation actions including LED lighting upgrades, solar installations, organics diversion programs removing waste from landfills, active transportation infrastructure expansion, and tree planting policies. Climate adaptation initiatives focus on coastal risk assessments, drainage studies, and natural asset management to address sea level rise and flooding. The district updated Official Community Plans with greenhouse gas reduction targets of 10-33% by 2020-2021, established a zero waste goal, and developed a corporate Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Strategy targeting carbon neutrality by 2020-2021.
