This overview is based on two municipal sustainability reports from Mansfield, Connecticut and Maple Ridge. Mansfield joined the Sustainable CT Municipal Certification program in 2018, establishing a Sustainability Committee to lead implementation with quarterly meetings and annual public progress reports. Maple Ridge’s Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions through LED streetlight upgrades, cycling infrastructure expansion, tree planting, organic waste collection, single-use plastics reduction, and energy-efficient building standards including LEED Silver construction and BC Energy Step Code preparation, with emissions tracking at 2,250 tonnes CO2 equivalent in 2018.
